Book List 2010

2010

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult

*As usual sooo much better than the movie. The movie depicts a really happy family, the book depicts real conflict. The movie ending and the book ending are completely opposite, the book ending is really shocking and so much better than the predictable movie ending.

The Ethshar Series by Lawrence Watt-Evans
The Misenchanted Sword
With a Single Spell
The Unwilling Warlord
The Blood of a Dragon
Taking Flight
The Spell of the Black Dagger

*After reading all those "hard reads" I needed some lighter fare, and got it.

I am Legend by Richard Matheson

*Again so much different than the movie. So amazing, unbelievable book!

The Anne of Green Gables Series by L.M. Montgomery
Anne of Green Gables
Anne of Avonlea
Anne of the Island
Anne of Windy Poplars
Anne's House of Dreams
Anne of Ingleside
Rainbow Valley
Rilla of Ingleside

*Finally in my mid 30's I read this series. They were fun to read, love the developing love story of Anne and Gil. Rilla was by far my favourite though.

Bad Twin by "Gary Troup"

*The book written by the guy that got sucked into the engine of Oceanic 815.

Lost: Endangered Species by Cathy Hapka
Lost: Secret Identity by Cathy Hapka
Lost: Signs of Life by Frank Thompson

*Amanda made me do it! Actually they weren't all that bad.

Under the Dome by Stephen King

*For some reason this book hit me from when it was in hard cover. I wanted to read it even though I'm not a huge Stephen King fan. So, when I saw it at Costco in trade paperback I scooped it up and pretty much started it immediately. This 1075 page monster only took a few weeks to read. It's captivating from page one! I don't know what made it so good, I think back and wonder, but it was GOOD!

Baby Proof by Emily Giffin

*A quick light read after the monster above. The main character is pretty much me, except she's not an animal lover and works in publishing (which I should have) in NYC (which is a city I love, but could never ever see myself as a city girl), but the reasoning behind "I don't want kids" and all the conflict with friends and family about it, well that's the same.

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

*Not the happy love story I thought it was. Doesn't pick up for a while! Maybe it just takes a while to get used to the style, maybe it's because I didn't really like any of the main characters. *shrug*

The Stand by Stephen King (Uncut version)

*They said that Under The Dome and The Stand are comparable, how true. This book rocks! Not sure what the differences are between the regular version and the uncut version other than 500 pages. LOL I always loved the movie, but never could get into the book, I'm sooo happy now that I did read it, and totally got into it!

The Wicked Years by Gregory Maguire
Wicked
Son of a Witch
A Lion Among Men

*Book one - Good, Book two - Great, Book three - Sucked!!!
