Book List 2006-2009

2006

Bridge of D'Arnath series by Carol Berg
Son of Avonar (1)
Guardians of the Keep (2)
The Soul Weaver (3)
Daughter of Ancients (4)

*Incredible series! Carol Berg is one of my favourite 'new' fantasy authors, all of her books just captivate and hold me prisoner. The coolest thing is she writes from the man's point of view.

Relative Values by don't know the author's name, it was a Harlequin and I read it for 'research' (in how to write Harlequin, not in romance).

The Wizard's Ward by Deborah Hale

Mother Earth, Father Sky by Sue Harrison
My Sister the Moon by Sue Harrison
Brother Wind by Sue Harrison

*Really good historical fiction series.

Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King

*Love, love, loved this book.

Firefly by Piers Anthony

*Piers trying to be Stephen King, you were not at your best here buddy.

Merlin's Descendants by Irene Radford
Guardian of the Balance (1)
Guardian of the Trust (2)
Guardian of the Vision (3)

2007

Guardian of the Promise (4)
Guardian of the Freedom (5)

*Relatively good series.... some memorable characters.

Titanic: the Long Night by Diane Hoh

The Bone Doll's Twin by Lynn Flewellyn (Saturn Fans member... meaning we've spoken quite a few times!)
The Hidden Warrior
The Oracle's Queen

*Another really great series.

The Blue Roan Child by Jamieson Findlay

Ancestors of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley & Diana L. Paxson

*Now that Marion is no longer behind the wheel they have lost some of what made this series incredible.

Kentucky Rich by Fern Michaels
Kentucky Heat by Fern Michaels
Kentucky Sunrise by Fern Michaels

*Had a lot of "that could never happen in horse racing" moments. Apparently you have to read the Texas series before this one in order for it to make sense. *shrug*

People of the Wolf by O'Neil/Gear
People of the Fire by O'Neil/Gear

*This series is absolutely wonderful, if you like historical fiction you will love these books!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling

*The Harry Potter finale, what more can I say, it started with a bang and ended with a bang.

People of the Earth by O'Neil/Gear

The Ancient One by T.A. Barron

Dream a Little Dream by Piers Anthony and Julie Brady

*A cute little love story.

The Davinci Code by Dan Brown

*Waaaaay better than the movie.

The Warlord Chronicals by Bernard Cornwell
The Winter King (1)

2008

Enemy of God (2)
Excalibre (3)

*OMG, OMG, OMG what more can I say? This has to be one of the most amazing Arthurian Legends series I have ever read. They were sitting on my book shelf for years and I dreaded reading them, I'm soooo happy that I did.

Quest for the Fallen Star by Piers Anthony, James Richey, and Alan Riggs

The Other Boleyn Girl by Patricia Gregory

Marley & Me by John Grogan

*I laughed, I cried, just like the millions of other people that read it.

Ghostlight by Marion Zimmer Bradley
Witchlight by Marion Zimmer Bradley
Gravelight by Marion Zimmer Bradley

*I read these years ago and didn't like them, so I tried again and this time did like them. LOL

Isle of Woman by Piers Anthony
Shame of Man by Piers Anthony

*Opposite of above, I read them years ago and really liked them, this time not so much. The first two books of the series, which is a neat concept, the main characters get reincarnated throughout history (anywhere from 400,000 BCE to 2025 CE). During the second read (and a much more mature me) I found the dialogue quite lacking and the sexual innuendos too much.

Gallow's Thief by Bernard Cornwell

*Bernard's becoming one of my faves.

People of the River by Kathleen O'Neal Gear & Micheal Gear
People of the Sea by O'Neal Gear
People of the Lakes by O'Neal Gear
People of the Lightning by O'Neal Gear

The Princess Bride by William Goldman

*Love the movie, love the book

2009

Rhiannon's Ride by Kate Forsyth
The Tower of Ravens (1)
The Shining City (2)
Heart of Stars (3)

*Another amazing fantasy series. Sequels to The Witches of Eilianan.

Tuesdays with Morey by Mitch Albom

The Lighthouse Duet by Carol Berg
Flesh and Spirit
Breath and Bone

*Ah Carol you did it again, I love you.

Darkest Evening of the Year by Dean Koontz

*Seriously, I read this book, why?

The Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer
Twilight (1)
New Moon (2)
Eclipse (3)
Breaking Dawn (4)

*Yeah, I liked them, but I wouldn't go so far as to call me a "twihard". I want another one about 150 years into the future.

People of the Silence
by Michael Gear and Katherine O'Neal Gear

The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Nieffenegger

*Book ending, soooo much better than movie ending.

The Circle Trilogy by Nora Roberts
Morrigan's Cross (1)
Dance of the Gods (2)
Valley of Silence (3)

*Nora Roberts does fantasy..... well.

Sarum by Edward Rutherford

*1200 pages, took 2 months to read, was good but I found myself constantly trying to figure out who was descended from whom.

The Road by Cormac McCarthy

*Three words for this book.... ho...ly...crap!

I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman

*This one goes down as being on my top five list, it really has to be my most favouritist book!

Elemental Magic (Four short books)

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

*Great book.
